The beach at Fort Zachary Taylor

Getting there can be a challenge the first time. It's a the end
of Southard St. You will almost think you can't get in. There is
a guard house at the edge of a gated community. Just tell him
you are going to Fort Zach and he will wave you on. Keep following
the signs and you will get there. Fort Zachary is a State Park so
there is an admission to get in. It has plenty of parking one lot
for the fort, and two others for the beach. With a couple of out
side showers. A dressing room next to the concession stand.
This Key West beach is very rocky in places so a pair of beach shoes is
recommended. The water is deep enough to swim and snorkeling
You will notice big piles of rocks off shore and in the jetties.
These are very good spots to snorkel with a large varieties of adult
fish hanging out in the large cracks between rocks. You will have
to bring your own Snorkel and mask. Just off the beach you will
find a large picnic area under the shade of pine trees to relax
and enjoy yourself at the beach.
