Key Largo is just this side of paradise. As you leave the mainland you find
yourself on the largest of the Florida
Keys. While the island tries to still capture the days of pirates and sunken
treasure. You will see that with its
closeness to Miami in some ways it has gained the look of a bedroom community.
The real treasure is
what lies offshore of Key Largo.

The clarity of its waters makes it the scuba diving capital of the world. With
John Pennekamp State Park the star attraction. (Area Parks) The first underwater
preserve in the nation. The more than 600 species of fish and 40 types of coral
it is now all included in the
Florida Keys Marine Sanctuary. Recapturing the Hollywood vision of Key Largo you
can find the African Queen boat used in the movie made famous
by Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.
One of the things I always liked about Key Largo when I came down on vacation
was its central location.
I would stay in Key Largo and make day trips to the Everglades National Park and
Key Biscayne National
Park. (Area Parks) For those of you who love seafood, you have truly found
paradise with all the great
seafood restaurants. Plus a little looking around you will find some neat
Key-Style Shopping. All this make
Key Largo a great vacation spot for Divers, Families and Honeymooners alike.
