The Cypress House is listed with the National Register of Historic
Places. This 19th century home
still maintains the feeling of days gone by. It was built in 1888 and is one of
the finest examples of Bahamian architecture in
Key West.
It is located just a few blocks from whatever you want to do while visiting the
island. Their helpful staff is willing to make suggestions and reservations for
dinner or tourist activities at places that meet their strict standards for
quality and service. They will arrange snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, diving,
sightseeing or dolphin-watching trips for you with the most reputable catamarans
or sailboats on the island, (all within a three block walk!) or they will point
you to the places to rent moped, jet skis or to go parasailing. Just let them
know when you want to go and they will handle the rest. If you want to explore
the island at your own pace you can rent bikes right on the premises.
Each morning you wake up to an elaborate continental breakfast buffet from 8 to
11 am. Then comes the biggest decision you will have to make all day "What to do
next". Should you just lounge by the pool enjoying the warm Key West sunshine.
Sipping on a "Key Lime Coolers" served poolside, or maybe get some shopping in.
Duval Street is just one block away offering a wide selection of shops. From
high end national chains to the small funky local stores. After you get finished
with your daytime activities you are in for a real treat with their nightly
poolside cocktails with light snacks from 6-7 pm.These occasions is just one of
the many reasons people keep coming back to this Key West bed and breakfasts
year after year. I very seldom see a guest staying at the Cypress House coming
to watch the sunset because of this event.
Now the sun has gone down and it is time to check out the Key West
night life. No matter what you are in the mood for the staff will point you in
the right direction. With just about any kind of live music
from jazz to country. Maybe Hemingway's favorite bar Sloppy Joe's. The good
thing is you are literally just a short crawling back to the Cypress House. If a
more quite time is what you are looking for you can take a leisurely stroll
along the Harbor Walk enjoying the soft breezes off the ocean. Catching a little
more shopping in or laying out your plans for tomorrow.

Finally you make it back to you room. You will find that they are large, bright,
airy and clean, with bodacious bathrooms. Each one is different. Some have one
king or one queen bed, others have two queen beds. Furniture styles vary from
wicker to an eclectic mix of antiques, but all have A/C's, ceiling fans, TV's
and phones. Some have private verandahs or outside sitting areas. Now after a
good and well deserved nights sleep you can start all over again. Before I
forget for those of you that will be missing your pets. You will find Ben, Gabi
and Lady Bug, our two dogs and cat, who are always available to accommodate your
petting needs.
