Key West Scuba Diving Cottrell Reef

Key West Scuba Diving

Cottrell Reef
(Gulf side Reef)
Diver Skill Level  Novice to intermediate
Depth 3 - 15 Feet
Current (Light to Moderate)

Cottrell Reef is a good alternative dive if the weather is blowing from
the Atlantic side. Protected by the miles of grassy banks called the Lakes.
The ledges and banks of Cottrell Reef run for miles, and are covered with
gorgonians, and sponges. You will find scattered clusters of coral heads.
Her you will also find lots of pits, cervices, and coral caves. That have been
carved out by wave action over the years. You see a good variety of juvenile
fish with adult Parrot, and Snapper. The visibility is between 15-40 feet. You
have little current or surge even on rough days.
