The world's coral reefs are being killed. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Thursday that new research finds carbon emissions are threatening coral reefs. The findings are timely as 2008 is the International Year of the Reef.

Scuba Diving Key West and the Florida Keys

Born and raised on the Gulf Coast around New Orleans, I grew up around water - rivers, ponds, lakes, bayous, streams, sounds and of course the Gulf Of Mexico.

We did a lot of fishing as kids, my brother and I used to skin dive in Lake Ponchartrain to net soft shell crabs and often found old bottles.  I was hooked.  Tried SCUBA for the first time as a teenager in a resort in Mexico and it didn't take much time working other jobs to realize that dive instructors had it made and that this was the way to go.  Since 1986, I have spent the years teaching diving in the Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Belize, Aruba and South Florida.   Currently, self employed diving educator in Key West Florida.  Also, assisting as an Instructor Trainer  for the AS Degree Program in Diving Business & Technology at the Florida Keys Community College in Key West that offers NAUI, PADI, SDI and TDI Instructor ratings as part of their curriculum.

We offer most of the courses out there.  Nitrox and Technical diving are very popular these days with many wrecks in the Florida Keys in depths between 95 and 300 feet.
