Offshore, Sportfishing Charters
Late fall and early winter the waters on
the Atlantic side of the Florida
Keys come alive with sailfish. Followed closely by the anglers to
try
and catch them. Dolphin can be found in the warm waters of the
Gulf stream any time of year but April through August the fishing is the
best. The average dolphin weighs about 5 lbs. but can go up to 35 - 40
lbs. Once located dolphin can be caught by trolling or casting. A good
place to find them is around patches of Sargasso seaweed. Trolling with
the use of outriggers is the usual method. But kite fishing is starting
to come into its own in the Florida Keys and Key West. With it you can
Place your bait a long way from the boat and not directly behind it. Plus
you can spot and keep other fish from taking your bait. Each charter
service here in Key West and the Florida Keys will have its own style
and knowledge of the game fish and location to make your fishing trip
to the Florida Keys one you will remember for life.

Light Tackle Charters
There are more wrecks to fish from in the
Florida Keys than in any other
coastal waters in the U.S. Wrecks fishing is made up several different skills
Finding the wrecks is made easy using your local guide. Setting your anchor
so you can drift away from the wreck after you start fishing. Luring the fish
out of the wreck and to the surface. Living within the steel hulls of these
wrecks you find jewfish, permit, cobia, snapper, grouper, and many types
of Jacks. With the help of your local charters within no time you will
start picking out your target from the feeding frenzy on the surface, and
the fun really begins.

Key Largo
Flats/ Backcountry Charters
From the shoreline
of south Florida to the Continental Shelf south of
Key West including most of the Florida Bay lies a wonderful area called
the 'Flats' . Here many fish call this area there home. The snook,
redfish,
and sea trout the best eating and sport fishing. With the bonefish,
and
permit testing the skill of the best fishermen using light tackle. The test
of fishing the flats is not only catching the fish but seeing and stalking
you prey as it goes through the water. The first thing to have is a pair of
polarized sunglasses. This cut through the glare of the surface so you
can see the bottom. Fishing the flats or back country in the Florida Keys
it is important to match your bait to what you want to catch. With bait casting
or light tackle the bait should be live shrimp, unless your looking for permit
than silver dollar size crab is your best bait. There are two ways to fish the
flats by wading or off a boat. Most people who wade fish the flats are fishing
for permit. Guides know the best time and tide to fish for certain fish on
the
many different flats. But don't let that stop you from grabbing you sun glasses
and wading out for a few cast when you have the time traveling down the Florida
Keys or while your in Key West.
