Key West Fishing Almost There Tarpon Fishing

Tarpon Fishing

Key West Fishing

Tarpon, the silver king, is certainly one of the most spectacular of the sport fish. Light tackle and fly fishing enthusiasts know these fish as the greatest shallow water fighters in the world! Nothing compares to the sight of a six foot, 150 pound plus living missile as it leaps from the water twisting, shaking and gills rattling. While the moment is burned into your memory forever, time and fish race on as the tarpon reenters the water and peels line off the reel at an amazing rate. There are no words to accurately describe the performance and heart of these giants when hooked. While resident tarpon can be found year-round, the bulk of our tarpon can be found from February through July as they migrate to Key West during their spawn. While some other areas may lay claim to great tarpon fishing, none can compare to the vast numbers and size enjoyed here in Key West.

Tarpon are an excellent fish for both novice and veteran angler alike and can be taken on fly, plug, live bait, and even cut bait. While tarpon are taken throughout the day, the best tarpon fishing occurs during the low light conditions at dawn and dusk, therefore early starts and late returns are the norm for serious anglers. We also offer spectacular evening trips.
