How the rest of the world sees Key West

Take it easy in Hemingway's Key West

Shark Valley Tram Ride

Key West Parks Everglades National Park

It was a slow part of the week when I visited the shark valley part of the
Everglades National Park. In fact when we started the tour it was only me.
As we made the first turn a couple with their granddaughter walking back from
one of the short trails joined us. The biggest advantage to taking the tram is
you get a guided tour from the tram driver. The driver on this trip has been
doing it for 5 years and knew every bird and alligator hole along the way.
Above you see her after she stopped the tram and invited the passengers to
walk out into a shallow area to give them a lesson of the eco system. I was
truly impressed by the knowledge and professionalism of the Tram drivers .

Halfway around the road you
come to the observation tower.

From on top of the tower you get the best view of the river of grass
you will ever see in the everglades.

After the tower you slowly do the other half of the loop along a canal
with lots of the wild life pointed out to you as well as the plants. If you
are new to the everglades this is a great introduction to it.

If you are driving to Key West either from home or after
flying into Miami this is a must side trip.
